The way I got to be a part of Sydnee+Kieran’s day was less than conventional. Sydnee’s blessed with the most amazing family (as is Kieran) and her godmother contacted me about photographing the nuptials in November as her gift to the wonderful couple. Luckily for me, Sydnee and Kieran loved my work so they said, “YES” to the photographer! Which, truth be told, they’re one of the most laid back couples I’ve ever met and are just happy to be happy and grateful for anything they’re given.
While they were in St. Louis visiting over the holidays we got to squeeze in an engagement…right before a major ice storm! They got home safe and sound of course!
Their Leap Day wedding finally arrived and man was it gorgeous! The weather couldn’t have been better and everyone was so excited for the soon to be Mr. and Mrs. Griffin.
The entire venue was filled with special family touches, including an entire row dedicated to those members no longer with us but still very much a big part of their lives. This included a very special ring:
“My wedding band has stones in it that are from a ring that belongs to my grandma, she adored Kieran. She passed away a little over two years ago and Kieran was not only my rock during it, but my whole family’s. She was in the hospital for about a week before she passed and he did everything he could to make sure that everyone, including my grandma, were smiling and had what they needed or wanted to make them feel even just a little bit better. The night before she passed, Kieran told her he wanted to propose to me and she was so excited and encouraged him to do so. He proposed a few months after that. He wanted to make sure she was a part of our day and that I had something of hers to have with me all the time. “
Sydnee didn’t know was the above story behind the ring until AFTER the ceremony where she was surrounded by her immediate family in a very special moment together!
I couldn’t help put notice that everyone was so invested in making sure it was truly the best day ever for Sydnee and Kieran. As crazy as it may sound, this isn’t always the case. But here, everyone was willing to do whatever was needed exactly when it was supposed to happen.
Sydnee+Kieran, I can’t thank you two (and your godmother) enough for allowing us the absolute honor of being a part of what was truly your best day ever! I hope you love these photos as much as I do!
